ETHICS 4 EVERYONE: what does that mean?

Ethical choices are made by people, not organizations. The essence of the ethics issue is that individuals at some level of the business make a decision and others follow. If people are given the right tools and support, they will be able to make better decisions when placed in difficult, or unethical, situations.

Managers and HR professionals can learn from a video and material presented in this class how to develop the tools for employees to understand ethical standards, rules and guidelines in everyday situations, and for management to know how to communicate the values of the company.

YOUR TIME: think about it?

Time management gurus are everywhere with specific tools to use in managing your time. They all work but not for everybody. Why is this? Because all people are different and need different ways and tools to effectively manage their time. The first step is for individuals to "think" about how they spend their time. Once that is accomplished, the tools can be selected.

Come and spend the time in a structured atmosphere to finally determine how you spend your time. The second step is to understand the four types of tasks we all have and then determine on which tasks your time is spent. At that point, prioritizing of tasks is focused and you are again in control of your time!

BACKGROUND CHECKS: why have them and how do they work?

In today's recession employment market, pre-employment screening is critical to finding out your applicant's background history before hiring. With Nevada unemployment near 13 percent many job seekers at all levels are willing to do anything to improve their chances of getting hired. Fierce competition for jobs has made it difficult for employers to screen out the most qualified employees.

Former Reno police chief, Jim Weston, manages Reno based MCSS, Ltd. Background Investigation Services that serves Nevada and California employers. Jim details what type of applicant background information you can legally access, how the information is obtained, and how pre-employment screening can protect your company from law suits, financial loss, and incompetent employees.

Handling risk management is a primary responsibility of the Human Resources department. Are you doing background checks on potential employees? If not, why not? Come find out from an expert why such investigations can mitigate risks for your organization. You will also learn how to establish such a program and “sell” it to senior management.
